Built in 1601 and hardly used after the late 1600s, Langley Chapel escaped the waves of Victorian reordering that stripped most churches of their early furniture. What survives is a complete set of Jacobean fittings: box pews, a musicians’ gallery and a small movable hexagonal pulpit, all still in place. It sits alone in a field a mile or so south of Acton Burnell. English Heritage looks after it and entry is free. Church Stretton station is about 11km to the south-west.
