A cluster of old stone houses under the bulk of Caer Caradoc, Cardington claims to be Shropshire’s oldest continually inhabited village. At its heart the Royal Oak dates from the 15th century and is said to be the county’s oldest continuously licensed pub, with a low-beamed bar and a log fire. Church Stretton station is about 5km west.
