The porch of the White Bull in Ribchester is propped on a row of stone columns long said to be Roman — fitting, in a village built over the Roman fort of Bremetennacum. It’s a friendly village pub with rooms, a two-minute walk from the Ribchester Roman Museum and St Wilfrid’s church. Ramsgreave & Wilpshire station is about 5km south-east.
