Reckoned the oldest surviving windmill in the country, Bourn is an open-trestle post mill whose whole body swings to face the wind on a single upright post. It was first recorded in 1636, and testing of its huge timbers suggests some are older still. It stands on the hill west of Cambridge, above Bourn village, and opens on advertised days through the year.
