A small, friendly wildlife park between Cambridge and Royston, Shepreth began as a rescue centre and still has that feel. Red pandas, big cats, meerkats and a heated bug and reptile house make it an easy half-day with children. Paid entry, and about as convenient as these places get: Shepreth station is a few minutes’ walk, right beside it.
