Rupert Brooke lodged at Grantchester before the First World War and made its Orchard tea garden famous in verse; you can still take tea under the apple trees there. Meadow paths follow the Cam out from Cambridge to the village, past St Mary the Virgin. Cambridge South station is under 3km east.
