St Mary the Virgin, Grantchester
Rupert Brooke fixed Grantchester’s church in an English daydream, writing from Berlin in 1912: “Stands the Church clock at ten to three, / And is there honey still for tea?” The mellow church, mostly 14th- and 15th-century work, sits at the heart of Grantchester, a meadow walk from Cambridge and the Orchard tea garden. Usually open by day; Cambridge South station is about 2.5km east.
