A 17th-century Grade II-listed pub in the quiet north Hertfordshire village of Barley, restored in 2018 by friends Robin and Colin, who brought back its oak beams, open fireplaces and the old hanging inn sign. Head chef and co-owner Brett Barnes cooks British seasonal dishes built on local produce. It makes a natural lunch stop for walkers on the Icknield Way Path just to the north, or after a climb up nearby Great Chishill.
