When the Victorians set about restoring England’s churches, they left St John’s alone. Declared redundant in the 1870s and now kept by the Churches Conservation Trust, it survives as a medieval church largely untouched, with faded wall paintings and old fittings still in place beside the green at Duxford. Grade I listed and open to visitors. Whittlesford Parkway station is a short walk to the north-east, and the village’s old airfield is now IWM Duxford.
