The Manor at Hemingford Grey is one of the oldest continuously inhabited houses in England, a moated Norman hall that Lucy Boston made the setting for her Green Knowe books; house and garden open to visitors. The riverside village around it lost its church spire to a storm in the 18th century. The Cock is well regarded for food.
