Longstowe Hall is a Jacobean-style mansion rebuilt in 1912 around an Elizabethan core, for the Briscoe family who still own it. The gardens they created are the real draw: a double herbaceous border flanked by dark clipped yew, and a rose garden with a stone balustrade, set beside three lakes and old woodland. They open on selected Sundays and Mondays between April and September, tickets pre-booked online, with a café in the old squash court. Bourn Windmill and the village of Bourn are a couple of kilometres northeast.
