Three linked settlements — Upper, Middle and Lower Tysoe — strung in warm ironstone below the Edgehill escarpment. The Vale of the Red Horse around it takes its name from a horse figure once cut into the red hillside above the village, long since grassed over. There’s good walking up onto Windmill Hill and the escarpment, near Oxhill and the Edgehill battlefield country.
