Marsden is the last village of the Colne Valley before the Pennine watershed, and the point where the Standedge Tunnel — the longest, deepest and highest canal tunnel in Britain, over three miles under the moor — begins its bore towards Diggle. Marsden Moor rises all around for open walking. The station is right in the village.
