Approximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.
The Saddleworth Museum sits right on the canal in Uppermill, tracing the local woollen trade, the Saddleworth villages and their Roman road over the moors. There’s a restored weaver’s cottage room and a narrowboat moored outside. It makes a good rainy-day stop, and it’s handy for the shops and cafés along the main street. Admission charge; Greenfield station is about a kilometre away.
