High on the hill above Uppermill, in the little village of Saddleworth beside St Chad’s church, the Church Inn brews its own Saddleworth ales in a brewhouse restored in 1997 — the Saddleworth More is the one to look for. It’s a characterful old moorland pub popular with walkers, with the Saddleworth Museum down in Uppermill and the Cross Keys another climb away. Greenfield station is a little over 2km south-west.
