Slaithwaite (locally ‘Slawit’) is a Colne Valley village along the restored Huddersfield Narrow Canal, which runs right through the middle past independent shops and cafes. It still keeps up its Moonraking lantern festival every other February. The station is a minute’s walk from the water.
