A brook runs through the middle of King’s Cliffe, past stone houses on the edge of what was once Rockingham Forest, a royal hunting ground. The village made its living from woodturning for centuries and kept the trade going long after most places lost it. There’s good walking straight from the door, with Fineshade Wood a few miles to the north-east. Stamford station is roughly 9km away.
