Fineshade Wood is a stretch of old Rockingham Forest near Corby, run by Forestry England with waymarked walking and cycle trails and a café in the grounds of a lost medieval abbey. Red kites, reintroduced to this part of the county, are a common sight overhead. Free to enter, parking charged. Stamford station is about 10km to the north-east.
