Elie and its neighbour Earlsferry share a wide crescent of sand that draws families and watersports crowds through the summer. It’s a classic Scottish seaside village — a snug harbour, a golf links, and the famous beach cricket that the Ship Inn plays out on the sands when the tide allows. Leven, with its newly reopened station, is about 11km west.
