The church at Cwmyoy is often called the most crooked in Britain: built on an ancient landslip, its ground has gone on shifting for centuries, so the tower now leans further out of true than the one at Pisa. Walls slant and nothing quite meets at a right angle. The hamlet sits high in the Vale of Ewyas below the Black Mountains, reached by a steep lane.
