At the centre of Brewood, beside the market place, stands Speedwell Castle — a gothic folly of about 1750, said to have been paid for with winnings on a racehorse of that name. The rest is a handsome village of Georgian houses around a medieval church, close to the Shropshire Union Canal. Codsall station is roughly 6km south.
