West Park
Open accessfree to visit at any reasonable time
West Park opened in 1881 on old racecourse land, designed by Edgbaston nurseryman R. H. Vertegans as Wolverhampton’s answer to a Victorian people’s park. A boating lake stocked with ducks and swans sits below a Grade II-listed cast-iron bandstand from 1882, with a heated conservatory added in 1896 and later restoration in the 1990s. Now Grade II* listed, it’s free to walk round any day, a short stroll from Wolverhampton station.
