Wightwick is a late-Victorian house built for the Mander family between 1887 and 1893, and steeped in the Arts and Crafts taste of its moment. The interiors are hung with William Morris fabrics and papers and one of the country’s best Pre-Raphaelite collections, with work by Rossetti and Burne-Jones. Outside, the terraced garden was laid out with Alfred Parsons and Thomas Mawson. Geoffrey Mander gave it to the National Trust in 1937, when the house was barely fifty years old. It sits on the western edge of Wolverhampton. Open most of the year, ticketed, free for National Trust members.
