Benington gathers around a hilltop green and duck pond, with the earthworks of a Norman castle behind the church. Those grounds are now part of Benington Lordship Gardens, known for its snowdrops, an old walled rose garden and long herbaceous borders, open on set days through the year. Watton-at-Stone station is about 3.5km south.
