Hertford’s own brewery, and one of England’s oldest independents — Peter McMullen started it here in 1827, and the family still runs it. Tours take you round the Victorian tower brewhouse, where the beer works its way down through the floors by gravity; book ahead. It’s in the middle of Hertford, a few minutes from Hertford East station.
