A ford across the River Quin runs through the middle of Braughing, past medieval listed houses and the timbered Golden Fleece inn. The village keeps up an old custom, Old Man’s Day, each October, when children sweep the churchyard path in memory of a man once nearly buried alive. Bishop’s Stortford is the nearest station, about 10km south-east.
