White Nancy is the whitewashed, sugar-loaf folly on top of Kerridge Hill above Bollington, built in 1817 by John Gaskell of North End Farm to mark the victory at Waterloo. It’s a stiff little climb to reach it, but the reward is a grand view over the Cheshire plain to the Pennines and, on the far side, towards Wales. The odd domed monument has become the town’s emblem. Bollington sits just below; Prestbury station is about 3.5km west.
