Lyme Park stood in as Mr Darcy’s Pemberley in the BBC’s 1995 Pride and Prejudice, and it’s easy to see why: a great hall on the moorland edge of the Peak near Disley, with a deer park climbing behind. The gardens below include a sunken Dutch garden and a rose garden. It’s run by the National Trust. Disley station is about 2km to the north-east.
