Adlington Hall has belonged to the Legh family for more than 700 years, and its roughly 60 acres of gardens open to the public on Sundays and bank holidays between April and September, 2pm to 5pm, with an admission charge. The hall’s organ has a genuine Handel connection — he’s said to have played it during a visit. There’s a tea room doing homemade cakes and free parking in the grounds, a few miles out from Macclesfield near Prestbury.
