Budle Bay is a broad tidal inlet just north of Bamburgh, part of the Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve. At low water it becomes a huge expanse of mud and sand that pulls in wading birds and wintering geese in big numbers, so bring binoculars. There’s a roadside pull-in on the southern edge to watch from. The tide floods in quickly here, so don’t be tempted to wander far out onto the flats.
