After a boat trip to the Farne Islands? Seahouses is where you catch it — a working harbour village whose quayside is lined with operators sailing out to the puffin and seal colonies (busiest May to July for the seabirds). Between sailings there are fish-and-chip shops and ice cream around the harbour. Bamburgh and its castle are a couple of miles up the coast; Beadnell lies just south. Chathill station is about 6km inland.
