St Aidan’s Winery on Holy Island is the home of Lindisfarne Mead, a honey-based fortified wine you can taste for free before browsing a shop of Northumbrian food and drink. The catch is the island itself: it’s reached by a causeway that floods at high tide, so check the safe crossing times carefully and never chance it. Lindisfarne Oysters come from the same sheltered waters nearby.
