The Wheatsheaf at Burton Joyce was built in 1938 to a design by T. Cecil Howitt, the architect of Nottingham’s domed Council House. A yellow-brick roadhouse of its era, near the Trent, it keeps a terrace that is still in use. Burton Joyce station is a few minutes’ walk to the south-west.
