The Hatton Arms looks straight down the Hatton flight, the Grand Union’s climb of 21 locks over two miles that boaters call the Stairway to Heaven. It’s an 18th-century former coaching inn, now a dining pub sourcing much of its food from the surrounding Hatton Estate, with a terrace and garden angled at the view. Hatton station is under 2km away, and the towpath walk down the locks is the reason most people come.
