Tucked down Case Lane at Five Ways, north of Hatton, this is one of the country’s great unspoilt drinkers’ pubs. There’s no music, no food and no fruit machines, just well-kept ale served through a hatch in small, time-worn rooms; CAMRA lists its interior as nationally historic. It takes a bit of finding down the lane, and you’ll want a car or a good walk to get here.
