Hill Close Gardens is a rare survival: a row of Victorian hedged gardens laid out from 1845 as rented plots where Warwick’s tradesmen could escape their cramped town houses, grow flowers and vegetables, and put up a summerhouse to sit in of an evening. Saved from redevelopment and restored by a local trust, each plot keeps its own character. It’s ticketed, open Tuesday to Sunday through the season, with a tearoom at weekends. Warwick Castle is under a kilometre away, and Warwick station is about 1km north-east.
