Charlecote is a small estate village of listed cottages by the Avon, gathered around Charlecote Park and its herd of fallow deer. Legend has the young Shakespeare caught poaching here and hauled before Sir Thomas Lucy, though there’s no firm record and the deer park came later. Hampton Lucy is the next village upstream.
