Michael and Anne Heseltine have been planting this seventy-acre collection since 1976, and it now runs to thousands of species and cultivars alongside lakes, a rockery and a two-acre walled garden. It sits just over the Northamptonshire border near Banbury. The gardens open on only a handful of days through the year, so check the dates before setting out. Paid entry; Banbury station is under 3km south.
