St Peter ad Vincula, South Newington
This modest ironstone church holds some of the finest 14th-century painting to survive in England, worked in rich colour on the north aisle wall — among them a rare scene of the murder of Thomas Becket, and a Madonna and Child. Free to look round. The village of South Newington sits on the old Banbury road, and Banbury station is about 9km to the north-east.
