In the estate village of Great Tew, the Falkland Arms is a thatched, creeper-hung inn of honey-coloured ironstone, its flagstoned bar hung with old mugs and still selling snuff and clay pipes over the counter. Wadworth run it now, with Hook Norton ales alongside, and there are a handful of rooms upstairs. St Michael’s church stands just up the lane.
