The highest town in Oxfordshire, sitting around 700 feet up on the northern Cotswold edge, ‘Chippy’ grew rich on wool — hence the big Perpendicular church of St Mary’s below the town. Its oddest landmark is the domed Bliss tweed mill, a Victorian factory built to look like a country house, standing among the fields just west of the centre.
