The smallest of the three Wychwood villages, Ascott strings its stone cottages along the Evenlode a little above the river. It shares the valley with Shipton and Milton, and keeps its own small station on the Cotswold Line, so you can arrive by train from Oxford. There’s a Norman church and quiet lanes; not much else, which is the point.
