Swinbrook is a quiet hamlet of warm Cotswold stone on the Windrush. Its church holds the extraordinary Fettiplace monuments — two tiers of reclining stone gentlemen propped on their elbows — and, in the churchyard, the graves of Nancy, Unity and other Mitford sisters, who grew up close by at Asthall. The Swan Inn sits down by the river.
