A single street of thatched cottages runs down to the Windrush and the ruins of Minster Lovell Hall — the shell of a 15th-century manor beside the river, with a medieval dovecote still standing in the field alongside. English Heritage keeps the ruins open and free, and the church stands next to them. It’s an easy, atmospheric spot for a riverside picnic.
