St James the Great, South Leigh
St James the Great is a small village church worth stepping into for its medieval wall paintings, uncovered in the 19th century. The most striking is a Doom, or Last Judgement, spread over the chancel arch, with St Michael weighing souls alongside. It’s usually open to visitors. Hanborough station is about 6.5km to the north-east.
