A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, Blenheim is the vast Baroque palace given to the first Duke of Marlborough for his victory at Blenheim in 1704, and the birthplace of Winston Churchill. Capability Brown reshaped the park from the 1760s, damming the River Glyme to make the 40-acre lake that frames the approach. Formal gardens sit close to the house. Paid entry; Hanborough station is under 2km from Woodstock.
