A handsome stone town at the gates of Blenheim Palace, the Churchill family seat and World Heritage Site whose park you enter straight from the market place. Woodstock has a Georgian high street of good inns and shops, and the Oxfordshire Museum in the centre covers the county’s history. Hanborough station, about 3km away, is the usual rail approach for Blenheim.
