A 350-year-old former malt house on the Cotswold edge, the Feathered Nest turns out modern British cooking under head chef James Erasmus, with far-reaching views over the Evenlode Valley and a handful of rooms for staying on. The cosy bar keeps a village-local feel beneath the fine dining. Time a meal here with a walk on the Diamond Way, which passes just to the north-west, or a wander over to the Iron Age earthworks at Idbury Camp.
