Low, wide stone bridges step across the shallow Windrush as it runs through a long central green — the reason Bourton gets called the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’. It’s the busiest village in the area and can be packed in summer, so come early or off-season to have the river to yourself. Kingham station is about 9km east.
