John ‘Crump’ Dutton built Lodge Park in 1634 as a grandstand for watching deer coursing and staging lavish entertaining — it’s the only one of its kind to survive from the period. The National Trust restored it as its first such project in the late 1990s, working from archaeological evidence. It’s open Friday to Monday from March to October, plus every day in August, with walking routes fanning out across the Sherborne Park Estate. Card payments only; no cash.
